Since we removed the Nucleon Evo from our range in 2008 we‘ve repeatedly been approached
with requests for a freeride and downhill bike with G-Boxx 1 and 14-speed Rohloff(R) technology.
We‘ve now realized that we made a mistake. The Evo was particularly popular in Asian countries
and the Ion GB2 successor was unable to fill its shoes. The new Nucleon E2 (the next rung on the
evolutionary ladder) is not only our new technology flagship, is is also a sign of our appreciation
for our most loyal and engaged customers. These are the ones that never tire of providing us
with ideas, motivation and criticism, who will not abate in their insistence until we comply
with their demands. With the Nucleon E2 we now hope to strike the right chord with
the technology fanatics among you. So are we being inconsistent? We don‘t think
so. We’ve already achieved this with the Nucleon AM: combining the advantages
of the mature technology of the Roholoff(R) G-Boxx 1 and the COR rear with
the modern versatile geometry of our Helius AM. The Nucleon E2 now
combines the reliability and performance of the G-Boxx 1 system
with the strength of our gravity machine - the Ion ST. The result
is a superior extreme freeride and downhill frame. Of course
the various evolutionary stages in development of our
gear box bikes over the last 10 years is not an issue
for owners - we guarantee availability of service
and replacement parts for each of them for at
least 10 years (as we do for for all Nicolai
models). As an optional extra we offer
a custom shimmed Cane Creek
Double Barrel Shock for
the Nucleon E2 frame.
